Privacy Policy - Ride Log

Ride Log ("the App") is a vehicle-maintenance tracker developed by Daniel Gilbert ("we", "us", "the developer"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. In short: Ride Log does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your personal data. All your data stays on your own devices and in your own iCloud account.

What data the App stores
Ride Log stores the information you enter to keep a log of your vehicles and their maintenance, for example:
- Vehicle details (name, type, make, model, year, unit, an optional photo)
- Maintenance entries (date, title, odometer reading, cost, category, servicer, parts, notes)
- Fuel and mileage logs, odometer check-ins, and service reminders
- Photos you attach to vehicles or maintenance entries
This data is written to a single Markdown file (garage.md) and an
accompanying media/ folder for photos, stored in a location
you choose:
- A folder you pick yourself (for example in iCloud Drive), or
- The App's private iCloud container (
iCloud.de.g5t.ridelog), or - Local storage on your device.
We, the developer, never receive, see, or have access to this data. There is no account to create, no login, and no server operated by us.
iCloud
If you keep your data in iCloud (either your own iCloud Drive folder or the App's iCloud container), the file is synchronised across your devices by Apple's iCloud service. This processing is performed by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy, not by us. We have no access to your iCloud data. See Apple's Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
Camera and photo library
The App can add photos to your vehicles and maintenance entries. To do this it may ask for permission to use your camera. Photos are stored only in your chosen storage location alongside your log. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
Notifications
If you enable service reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device to remind you when maintenance is due. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device. No reminder data is sent to us or to any third party.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
Ride Log contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs that collect data about you. The App does not use cookies or advertising identifiers, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
Data sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your data, because we never receive it in the first place. Any sharing that happens is entirely under your control - for example, if you choose to store your file in a shared iCloud folder or export it yourself.
Purchases
Ride Log is a one-time paid app. Purchases and payment are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives in your own storage, you are in full
control. You can edit or delete individual entries and vehicles within the
App, or delete the underlying garage.md file and media/
folder at any time using the Files app or your file manager. Deleting the App removes
its local copy of data; data stored in iCloud or a folder you chose is removed when
you delete those files.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at https://g5t.de/tools/ride-log/ with its "Last updated" date.
